I am delighted to see Ethos come to life as a welcoming space to explore and share ideas, arguments, and creative pieces related to medical ethics and health humanities!

About Us

Ethos is a vibrant hub for inquisitive minds to share and nurture ideas in medical ethics and law.

Who are we?

Ethos is a student-teacher initiative founded upon the observation that our foundation principles of ethics are constantly being challenged by the ever-evolving landscape of scientific discovery and medical advancements. We strive to advocate for the many voices that arise at the confluence of medical ethics, and law.

Ethos is derived from the namesake ancient Greek word, which is defined by Aristotle to be at the heart of a writer who demonstrates wisdom, benevolence, and good moral character. A writer’s integrity to these ideals can therefore profoundly interplay with the community’s reception to their craft.

What is our mission?

We hope that as a reader, you get to view topical dilemmas through a vibrant kaleidoscope – where colorful fragments of thoughts blend and rearrange to reveal new patterns and perspectives.

Who are we supported by?

As part of the HKUMed Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit (MEHU), we offer a platform for undergraduate students at The University of Hong Kong to share their works, encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and fostering engagement in the topics of medical ethics, law, and humanities.

Our gallery of submissions is not merely bound to analytical essays; adding creative flair to these important discussions is greatly encouraged. In pursuit of this vision, we also embrace the inclusion of multimodal pieces as submissions, such as captivating visual artworks and evocative poems.
